Do you think Solas is the speaker in the veil fire road? Is that his terror that is being recorded? Is he the one who sealed up the deep roads—as he later sealed up Arlathan and the Fade? (Is it in the Hallelujah cadence? I can’t count)

A romanced Lavellan betraying Solas could be the thing that finally breaks him :(

I also just remembered Seekers of Truth are resistant to Red Lyrium. No Grey Warden has ever been made tranquil. So does the Rite of Tranquility serve as one method of stopping the Blight.

@corseque Look up GeekRemix's videos that play the audio of the Well of Sorrows backwards. I'm extremely curious about what your thought on what it could mean.

I love this so much and hope people really think on it.  I feel like it will almost have to be a Lavellan that can get him to trust again.  Their conversation when he returns to Skyhold after All New, Faded For Her was I think one of the biggest insights to his character. She’ll tell him “the next time you have to mourn you don’t need to be alone” and he responds with “it’s been so long since I could trust someone” “i know” “i’ll work on it”.  I’ve played through with a high approval inquisitor... There’s also a lovely little banter between him and Cassandra after you’re made Inquisitor: Post

ofc I'm talking about the twin murals in the ruins that you used as the background

Again, the Dread Wolf Rises teaser picture shows an orb of darkness encircled by seven others, the red lyrium idol at the center, and elven Solas juxtaposed? with the black Dread Wolf form. I think it would be informative to determine what the symbols of eye, flame, and colors red and black mean in all the game murals

You talk about the mural that contains a circle in black and red with menacing, eye-like shapes. I don't have the tools to analyze these murals as works of art, but it seems that in one of them there is this orb of darkness surrounded by seven other orbs - and a Fen'Harel like figure is at the side as a sort of... gatekeeper?

I think the Void is the key to everything happening in Thedas. When Andruil got "mad" after her journeys therein, Mythal pacified her and stole her knowledge on how to access the Void. If Mythal remained the only person remaining with this knowledge, it was more than enough for the other Evanuris to ally against her.

Anywho, pretty sure our MacGuffin in the next game will be the object Mythal used to cure Andruil... which we'll probably have to use to cure Solas or depower him so we can kill him after he drops the veil. Aaaand then we're going to have to cure a blighted titan while simultaneously fighting two archdemons.

Add to that we KNOW Mythal was forced to fight Andruil and subdue her when she was blighted, it lends weight to the idea that she would be opposed to using Red Lyrium as a weapon.

Theres an ambient dialogue from one of the tranquil researchers in the Emprise after you defeat Imshael that confirms red lyrium is basically impossible for the inquisition to clean up. So Solas knows they can't stop its spread.

THANK YOU! You've laid it all out so succinctly. Personally - I think we "know" what the power is, we just don't fully understand the threat. Solas is pissed Corypheus can access the power of the blight. "His real advantage is the blight, grants him access to power he should never have known" said in THAT angry growl always catches my attention on playthroughs. Blight is both crawling up from the deep roads, and completely contaminating the surface.

Tumblr ate my response. Boils down to three things: 1: Mordin Solus and Solas have a lot in common. 2: They differ in their fatal flaws. 3: And we are playing poker with a trickster archetype character, and only he has all the cards.  Post

elbenherzart reply to this Video18 days ago

I have no idea how anyone can think Solas is a 'boring' character. The takes I sometimes see on this hellsite are wild and so off character.

I agree with you completely. There’s a deep and tragic nobility to him keeping everything to himself. I think he tells you that in so many words in Trespasser as well. “I cannot do that to you, vhenan.” He’s seen what happened to the past group, and I think he can’t bear to see that happen to you. It’s also tragic because he’s not open to allowing you the possibility of betraying him. It would destroy him if Lavellan did, as well. Post

I think I have an answer to “Why did they put this room in Inquisition?”, and it’s a completely different tack from the one you take here (excellent deep character reading), so I’d appreciate thoughts.  The Inquisitor can only fully interpret the mural if you finished the Descent, so this is a reward for the truly completist player.  And along those lines of player-response, I’d like to suggest this.  The QUESTION is in Valta’s post-Descent opened codex on the Titans: Post

sassyseeker reblogged with comment18 days ago

I can’t fault him for that tbh, you made me picture him like Frodo in LotR now. He is the only one who can be trusted with this task, not by choice but because everybody else before him has failed. And we can’t fathom how deeply hurt he was by past betrayals, maybe even by somebody he was in love with. It actually speaks highly of his character to me, that he is someone to be trusted with not being corrupted by power. I knew he was emotionally damaged but this video made me see it in a new light... Post

In summary, Solas knows what the evanuris wanted with the titans but he won’t tell anyone about it, even his lover, because if someone knows about it then someone can abuse it just like the people he thought he could trust did. Post
