SO UH…..STORY TIME

picture, if you will, a young thoodleoo at the tender age of 13, circa 2008. i was currently at a catholic middle school, which does all kinds of things to your psyche. i spent a LOT of time playing animal crossing wild world, mostly because i was a weird little kid and didn’t have a lot of friends.

at this point i had done several playthroughs of the game and i was REALLY into like…roleplaying OC’s, i guess? so i had created a villager named liona and was having fun pretending to be a very distinguished little lady in animal crossing. and it was while i was playing as liona that i met….wolfgang

image

my repressed little ass fell MADLY in love with this cranky wolf grandpa. and so liona’s courtship with wolfgang began. i wrote him letters every day professing my love to him. i kept every letter he sent me in return. i harassed this poor little cartoon animal far more than he deserved, but this was the only kind of romance my weird tween self had available to me. i even started to write a fanfic about our romance, but i didn’t get past the first few pages

i guess at some point i got tired of dating a virtual wolf, because sadly i deleted that save file at one point. in fact, i completely forgot about my summer love with wolfgang….until i was playing new horizons and happened to come across him on an island while looking for new villagers. the memories hit me like a goddamn avalanche. and at that moment i knew….i knew i had to invite him to my island and rekindle our love.

wolfgang and i are best buddies in new horizons now. my younger brother thought the animal crossing romance story was hilarious so he’s acting as our wingman. we’re taking it slow, you know- getting to know each other again. i’ve caught many a horse mackerel for him, and today he sent me a wizard robe in the mail. i think that’s a good sign?

anyway that’s the story of how i fell in love with an animal crossing character
